The ABC of First Aid for Pets
Pets love to play and explore and their active lifestyles can occasionally result in illness or injury.
If your pet is unwell or seriously hurt the RSPCA recommends the three step ‘ABC method’ which is easy to remember, simple to follow and could save your pet’s life.
ABC stands for:
- Airways – is anything blocking your pet’s airway?
- Breathing – is your pet breathing clearly?
- Circulation – can you feel your pet’s pulse or heart beating?
Contact your Vet immediately if the answer to any of these questions is no.
Preparing a pet-specific first aid kit and storing the details of an after hours Vet will help you be prepared to comfort and treat your pet when they need it.
