Here’s a story of a lovely Groodle Carter who travelled from Melbourne to Christchurch with Petraveller. Read to know more about Carter’s personality and his international pet relocation experience.
Carter joined the Mckay family when he was nine weeks old. Collette recalls, “He was very well behaved and slept through the night straight away.” She laughs and adds, “In fact, he sleeps a solid 10 hours every night, perhaps because he gets a comfy three-fourths of our bed.”
Carter is a very cuddly dog who loves affection. He loves to sit on the couch with humans and enjoys exercise and playing fetch. Carter loves other dogs that enjoy playing chase. Although Carter is a friendly dog, he can be very anxious too. Collette says, “He is very stand-offish with new people and generally barks at strangers, especially men but we think this is because he gets a fright or is scared. However, he warms up to them soon and is their best friend within a few minutes.”
Carter tends to shake a lot when in the car, or when in a new environment. “In our experience, he is generally fine once out of the situation, he comes out with his tail wagging and is happy as Larry. We have been spending a lot of time with him in the crate in both the house and our dog walker’s van to get him familiar. He seems quite content but does shake and pant heavily. We think once in a new environment he will find the crate as his safe space due to the time he has being spending in it,” says Collette.
Talking about Carter’s food habits, Collette shares, “He is a very fussy eater and is likely not going to eat at all on his trip, this is normal when not at home. Even occasionally at home, he won’t eat for a day. He is not motivated by food.”
After living in Australia for twelve years, the McKays decided to move back home to Christchurch, New Zealand. Collette says, “We decided that it was time to spend some time with family. As we work from home, we have the flexibility to work from New Zealand.” Leaving their furry boy Carter behind wasn’t an option for them, and so he was relocating with them to Christchurch.
For a pet parent like Collette, the safety and well-being of her pet is always on her mind. She says, “This international relocation will be the hardest thing I have ever done, and we even considered not moving for this very reason. Carter will be so very anxious on the flight and will need many pats and words of reassurance. I have no doubt I will find this more difficult than him.”
Collette began looking for a trusted and efficient pet transport agency to facilitate a stress-free journey for her pet. She says, “We did lots of research and read countless reviews, Petraveller always came out on top. We are so stoked with how awesome Petraveller was. We completely trust you and we knew you would look after our boy well.”
Carter made it safely to Christchurch and is now busy exploring his new surroundings. Thank you, Collette, for giving us the opportunity to relocate your beloved boy Carter. We wish you all the best on the move and many exciting adventures with Carter in Christchurch.
