Doug travelled from the sandy beaches of Australia to the lush green fields of the UK with Petraveller. Pet mum Gemma talks about her pet’s charming personality and explains why she reached out to Petraveller for Doug’s international pet relocation.
Handsome Doug joined Gemma’s family as a little eight-week-old puppy in January 2021. Gemma shares, “From day one, Doug has been fortunate that I have predominantly worked from home and could dedicate the time to train him and foster a positive environment for his play, routine and development.” Gemma continues, “Doug doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety and is fine when left alone. He sleeps most of the time and gets excited when I come home.” Doug gets three walks a day and playtime throughout the day. He is a sleepy, snuggly dog and is not demanding. He is content in his environment.
Describing Doug’s charming personality, Gemma says, “Doug simply adores people and cuddles. He selectively chooses which dogs to play with on walks but generally finds happiness in human companionship and his beloved frisbee or ball.” At home, Doug is a calm and sleepy dog, reserving his bursts of energy for evening play sessions, particularly enjoying a game of fetch with soft toys before curling up on the sofa with Gemma and his beloved soft toy.
Gemma says, “Doug is incredibly affectionate and becomes excited when he sees friends or family he knows, often letting out joyful squeaks. Doug is not overly driven by food. He does love a treat, but when it comes to his dinner, he tends to graze rather than eat all in one sitting.”
Gemma highlights Doug’s peaceful nature, stating, “I have never seen Doug aggressive towards humans or other dogs, or even cats. In fact, he’s a bit scared of our neighbour’s cat and tends to run away.” At the same time, Doug can exhibit protective behaviour when it comes to his home environment, growling or barking at noises or visitors outside the door. However, he responds promptly when told to stop or after greeting the visitor.
Gemma was returning to her homeland in the UK to be with her family and friends. She says, “It was not a consideration to leave Doug in Australia; I am his key carer and would never feel comfortable leaving him in Australia.”
In search of a reliable and supportive pet relocation service, Gemma found Petraveller to be the perfect fit. Reflecting on her decision to choose Petraveller, Gemma explains, “The initial service I received from the team was outstanding, and they patiently answered all of my questions. This move was significant for Doug and me, and I needed a company that would provide support and guidance for a smooth transition. The pricing was competitive. The deciding factor was their flexibility in accommodating my preferred travel dates and flight routes, allowing me to book my own flight and synchronise it with Doug’s travel.”
Doug had a seamless and stress-free flight and landed safely in London. Thank you, Gemma; we appreciate you choosing Petraveller for your precious pet’s international relocation. We wish you happiness and many exciting adventures as you and Doug settle in your new lives in the United Kingdom.
