Petraveller transported sweet Domestic Shorthair cat, Elly from Sydney to Frankfurt. Elly’s human mum, Laura, talks about the companionship and comfort she shares with her pet and tells us why she chose Petraveller for Elly’s international pet relocation.
Laura adopted Domestic Shorthair, Elly when she was six weeks old and made her a part of her family. Laura recalls, “Friends of ours who support the community by feeding and de-sexing feral cats caught Elly in a warehouse where she lived with a momma cat and two other siblings. Elly was pretty tiny, thin and had fleas and worms. She was a bit shy in the beginning, but would start purring whenever we talked to her.”
Laura describes Elly as a sweet little cat. She fondly says, “At night she loves to sleep next to my face and purrs as loud as she can. Once feeding time is getting closer, she gets vocal and makes everyone clear that she is hungry. She could eat all day, but gets food in the mornings and evenings. She loves Greenies in between as a little snack for good behaviour or training her how to take it slowly.”
Laura smiles and continues, “After eating, she wants to play. Just like eating, Elly could play all day long. She loves toys, particularly those on a stick with bells and feathers hanging down, which she can chase. She especially gets excited when her toy is not visible, but she can hear it somewhere. We don’t play with our hands, so she knows not to attack humans though she sometimes chews or bites out of love. After playtime, it’s grooming and cuddling time, where she likes to sit on a lap and chill around for a little bit.”
Elly doesn’t like change. Going to the vet is not her thing and will hide in the crate. Laura explains, “At the vet, Elly will turn into a rock and make dark and weird noises, but no attacking or hissing. She is also terrified when the doorbell rings and hides as she is suspicious of strangers. After 30mins or so, she starts to warm up and curiously comes out of her hiding spot to explore the new situation.”
Laura was returning home to Frankfurt, Germany, due to personal reasons. She says, “Leaving Elly behind is not an option for us. It breaks my heart that she even needs to go through something like this, but there is, unfortunately, no other way.”
Like all pet parents, Laura was worried about putting her pet through an international trip of that length. As she wanted her pet to have the best and safest pet travel experience, she decided to hire an international pet relocation company to manage Elly’s travel. Laura says, “I contacted quite a few pet travel companies, but a lot of them did not respond. I went with Petraveller because they had the best reviews online, I couldn’t find even one bad review. I wanted the best for Elly as the trip is already hard on her.”
We are happy to say that Elly had a safe and successful journey and is now busy exploring her new home. Thank you, Laura, for trusting Petraveller to relocate your precious fur baby. We wish you good luck and lots of cuddles to cute Elly.
