The Schwanbeck family adopted cute Jack Russell Terrier Pendek in a heartbeat because it was a case of love at first sight. Read to know more about Pendek and his international relocation story from Melbourne to Los Angeles.
The Schwanbeck family adopted Pendek twelve years ago from a rescue shelter in Chicago due to love at first sight. Steven recalls, “He had no known history, and the vet estimated his age as two years, and so we named him Pendek, meaning short in Malay.”
Pet dad Steven describes Pendek as a sweet Jack Russell Terrier. He says affectionately, “Pendek has always been great and gentle with our five-year-old daughter and all people, including strangers.”
Pendek has a few health issues, but they have not dimmed his spirits. Steven shares, “Pendek’s hearing, mobility, and wits are waning. But he still enjoys frequent slow walks, cuddles, and sleeping in a soft bed that smells of family.”
The Schwanbeck family were relocating for work. Steven says, “Our family is in the process of relocating to Guyana for work. The first step of this process is bringing Pendek to the US via Los Angeles, where Petraveller is involved. We came to Australia in November 2019 similarly for work, and Australia has been amazing. But the craziness of 2020 has contributed to another work relocation much earlier than our family anticipated.” He adds, “Leaving Pendek behind is not an option because he is family, and he is very well travelled.”
Steven decided to take help from a professional pet transport company to handle Pendek’s journey from Melbourne to Los Angeles. Based on a recommendation, Steven reached out to Petraveller to manage his pet’s journey. He says, “Petraveller was recommended to us by our friend and colleague. When travelling from the US to Australia, we used another pet transport agency who recommended Petraveller when I enquired about returning to the United States.”
Pendek had a seamless flight and is now happily settled in his new home. Thank you, Steven, for trusting Petraveller with adorable Pendek. Best wishes on the move and a big hugs to dear Pendek!
