Vinnie and Lachlan

“Vinnie is a headstrong and stubborn little man.”

Lachlan and his beloved Swedish Vallhund, Vinnie, embarked on an exciting adventure to Paris, a city known for its pet-friendly atmosphere. Lachlan talks about Vinnie’s significance in his life and why he chose Petraveller for his pet’s international relocation to France.

Adorable Vinnie became an integral part of Lachlan’s family during the challenging times of the Covid-19 lockdown. Lachlan shares, “We’d been searching for the right furry friend for two years before Vinnie joined our family in October 2021, and his presence made the final Covid lockdown bearable.”

Lachlan describes his furry friend as a headstrong, stubborn, highly intelligent dog who is also sensitive and doesn’t like his freedoms restricted. Lachlan says, “It only takes a few repetitions for Vinnie to learn a new training task, however, once he has it figured out, it is really up to him whether he’ll perform on command. We love this streak of defiance and independence. Vinnie is cuddly, so he’s constantly toeing the line between sweet and sour.”

Lachlan reveals Vinnie’s conservative yet friendly nature. He says, “Vinnie is a bit slow to warm up to new people, but after a few interactions and treats, he’ll be your best friend.”

Describing Vinnie’s impatience, Lachlan chuckles, “Vinnie will let you know with a sharp bark when he’s done waiting for your coffee to be made.” Lachlan emphasises on Vinnie’s adaptability, “Vinnie is quite adaptable to new environments and situations, and once the stimulation of new people and places subsides, he’ll find a spot to nap or get a pat. He’s great with other dogs and loves to exchange information with sniffs and kisses, other times, he’s not interested and will walk around them.”

Recalling an unexpected love for an inflatable donut/cone, Lachlan shares with a smile, “It came to us as a surprise that Vinnie loved wearing the inflatable donut/cone provided by the vet to protect a minor wound post-desex surgery. We realised the donut provided the perfect neck rest, enabling optimal napping positions no matter where he was in the house. Once his wound had healed, we were able to remove the donut and give him back his freedom. However, he was not happy with us removing his newfound napping contraption. We had to wean him off it in the end, slowly re-introducing him to life without the cone.”

Lachlan decided to relocate to Paris, France. He states, “A job offer in the South of France was too tempting to resist, but we would never have moved without Vinnie. This new workplace is very pet-friendly, and we had heard that France can be heaven for dogs, as they are welcome in many shops and bars - and Vinnie loves to join us wherever we go.”

Relocating a pet internationally can be a complex and stressful process. Lachlan wanted to ensure that Vinnie’s journey would be handled with the utmost care and professionalism, so he diligently researched various pet travel providers. He looked closely at all the options and carefully considered the experiences of other pet owners before making the decision to reach out to Petraveller.

Expressing his trust in Petraveller, Lachlan reveals, “I had a close look at all of the pet travel providers, and after watching Petraveller videos and reading many reviews, I came to the conclusion that Petraveller were the most professional and passionate about making it a good experience for the pets and their people.”

Vinnie’s international relocation from Melbourne to Paris was smooth as his fur. Thank you, Lachlan, for trusting Petraveller with your furry companion Vinnie. Here’s wishing you a wonderful life ahead, and hope you and Vinnie enjoy your time together in the City of Lights.
