Pet vaccinations help keep dangerous diseases at bay. When a pet travels from one country to another, the pet must be fully vaccinated against rabies and other dangerous diseases. Vaccinations protect the pet and prevent the spread of dangerous and exotic diseases when a pet relocates to a different country.

Pet import regulations in India require that all pets entering the country be vaccinated against rabies and other animal diseases. Dogs and cats must be at least three months old to travel to India. If you are travelling to India with your pet dog or cat, here’s the vaccination schedule for international pet transport to India:

Vaccination schedule for dogs travelling to India

Pet dogs travelling to India must be vaccinated against rabies with an approved anti-rabies vaccine. The vaccine should be valid and administered according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The rabies vaccine has to be given between 30 days and 12 months before the date of travel to India. Dogs flying to India do not need a rabies titre test (RNATT) before travel.

Vaccination schedule for cats travelling to India

Pet cats travelling to India must be vaccinated against rabies according to the manufacturer’s instructions. They must receive the anti-rabies vaccine between 30 days and 12 months from the date of travel. Cats do not need the rabies antibody test (RNATT) to travel to India.
