Axel, Alexa and Khatija

Sydney to Johannesburg

Trip Overview

Owner: Khatija Valli

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Axel and Alexa

Destination: Johannesburg

Breed: German Shepherd dogs

“Axel and Alexa are a bonded pair.”

This is the travel story of two brave German Shepherd dogs, Axel and Alexa, who travelled confidently from Sydney to Johannesburg with Petraveller. Here’s pet mum Khatija talking about her pets and why she used Petraveller for their international pet relocation to South Africa.

Axel became a part of the Valli family when he was fourteen weeks old. Khatija laughs as she recalls, “Axel was a little fatty that just wanted to eat!” Khatija talks about her pet’s quirky personality. She chuckles and says, “Axel loves attention, belly rubs and treats. He loves to be told he is good looking. Axel is very intelligent and does understand certain keywords. To help coax him into the crate, you need to tell him, “Let’s go for a drive in the car”. Axel yaps and barks sometimes; that’s his way of communicating. He once ran away from home to go to the park and play on the trampoline. He is a character!”

Khatija brought Alexa home when Alexa was twelve weeks old. Khatija recalls, “Alexa was like a little Furby and made funny little sounds all the time. She is a full black German Shepherd who loves food and treats.”

Speaking about Alexa’s personality, Khatija says, “Alexa is wary of people at first but warms up after a while. Once she is used to you, she is very loving. Alexa loves being close to her humans at all times. Whilst I was working from home, she would sit under my desk to be close to me. Alexa howls sometimes, and that’s how she communicates.”

Khatija adds, “Axel and Alexa are not well socialised with other pets, both large and small. They are a bonded pair. They suffer from separation anxiety and may likely be depressed during travel.”

Khatija was returning to her homeland in Johannesburg with her pets. Khatija decided to make the international relocation easier on her and her dogs by using a pet relocation company. She looked online for an experienced pet transport company to help move Axel and Alexa from Sydney to Johannesburg. Her search led her to Petraveller, and she reached out to the team to assist with her pets’ international relocation. Khatija says, “From the first contact with Petraveller, I knew my babies were in safe hands, and I felt reassured. I read Petraveller’s online reviews and was very impressed.”

Axel and Alexa had a comfortable and stress-free journey and landed safely in Johannesburg. Thank you, Khatija, for booking Petraveller for dear Axel and Alexa’s international move. We wish you a beautiful life ahead and awesome adventures with Axel and Alexa out there in Johannesburg.
