Ollie and Ellen

Cairns to Hamburg

Trip Overview

Owner: Joshua Gunson

Origin: Cairns

Pet Name: Ollie

Destination: Hamburg

Breed: Husky

Meet adorable Husky Ollie and his pet parent, Ellen, as he travels from Cairns to Hamburg with Petraveller. Ellen talks about Ollie’s endearing quirks and her international pet transport experience with Petraveller.

Ellen’s partner, Josh, adopted Ollie as a puppy ten years ago. Ellen says with a smile, “I became Ollie’s doggy mum around eight years ago when Josh and I met at university. Ollie is such a friendly and open-minded dog; he immediately accepted me as part of their pack.”

Ollie is a very affectionate dog and loves cuddling with his human family. Ellen says fondly, “Ollie loves showing affection. He thinks he is smaller than he is, and he jumps onto our laps to curl up! Ollie is the best dog when I’m feeling sad. He comes up and sits with me so I can pat him, and won’t leave my side until he notices that I feel better. He is everything anyone could wish for in a dog, and we love him to bits!”

Like all Huskies, Ollie loves the outdoors. When he was younger, Ollie would push his boundaries by jumping over the fence and being very naughty. Ellen says, “Ollie has calmed down a bit as he’s entered his senior years. When he was younger, he would jump the fence and sprint away, and we would have a hard time catching him because he would look us in the eye and sprint away as soon as we got close.”

In truth, Ollie is a very gentle dog. Ellen explains, “When we give him a treat, he lovingly and gently licks it out of our hands. Ollie is a little picky when it comes to food. Funnily enough, he loves fruits, especially mango! Ollie is not fixated on food and often refuses treats when he doesn’t feel like it.”

Ellen and her partner Josh moved to Germany before Covid-19 hit for further studies. They couldn’t fly Ollie over since they were both studying, leaving him with Josh’s family back in Australia. Now that they were settled, they decided it was time to bring Ollie to Germany to be with them. Ellen says excitedly, “We don’t want to miss him another minute with us. He has never seen snow in his life, so we are so very excited to show him a whole new world!”

Ellen wanted to ensure that Ollie got the best care during his long journey to Germany. She looked for a pet travel partner who would reunite her with Ollie safely and compassionately. Ellen searched for the best pet transport agency in Australia and found Petraveller to be the perfect fit. She says, “We have searched the internet and found many great reviews with relocating animals for Petraveller. The transparent process made us feel like we could definitely trust Petraveller with our baby. We also liked that they provided us with updates during his travels.”

Ollie began his journey from Melbourne to Hamburg in great spirits. He was calm during his pick-up and throughout his long flight to Europe. He reached his destination safely and is now happily reunited with Ellen and Josh. Ellen couldn’t be more thankful for Ollie’s safe passage. She says, “The team was amazing in taking care of Ollie during his travels and sent us photos and videos. The planning was handled with great care and precision, and they were on top of everything, which was very reassuring. We highly recommend Petraveller to anyone planning on relocating a pet.”

Ollie has now settled in well in his new home and is looking forward to experiencing snow for the first time in his life! Thank you, Ellen, for choosing Petraveller for adorable Ollie’s travel to Germany. Here’s wishing you and Ollie a lifetime of happy memories in Europe!
