Baylie, Cupid, Clover and Ciara

Melbourne to Dublin

Trip Overview

Owner: Ciara Calvert

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Baylie, Cupid and Clover

Destination: Dublin

Breed: Maltese x Poodle, Border Terrier and Domestic Shorthair

“Baylie is affectionate, Cupid is a big softy, and Clover loves attention.”

Ciara and her beloved pets Baylie, Cupid and Clover travelled from Melbourne to Dublin with Petraveller. She describes their personalities and explains why she chose Petraveller for their international relocation to Ireland.

Maltese x Poodle Baylie has been a part of Ciara’s life since she was a puppy. Ciara smiles and shares, “I had had Baylie before I met my husband. She approved of him straight away and now favours him over than me.”

Baylie is a very affectionate and sweet-natured dog. Talking of Baylie’s favourite things to do, Ciara says, “Baylie loves belly rubs and will roll over to ask for one. She loves being cuddled beside one of us and enjoys going for walks and stopping numerous times to sniff everything. Baylie loves to play chase with our cat or snuggle up with Cupid, our other dog. She is stubborn and fussy with her food, and I have to add a sprinkle of cheese to get her to eat. We have to keep her and Cupid apart when eating as Cupid tries to steal her food.”

The Calvert family brought home cute Border Terrier pup Cupid in 2016. “Cupid and Baylie got along well straight away. Cupid is a big softy. He looks tougher than he is but gets anxious. He is very motivated by food and tries to steal food at every given opportunity, from the table, from us, from Baylie and Clover. If he were ever off his food, I would be very worried. Cupid has high energy and loves walks. He is very affectionate, loves cuddles and is extremely clever,” says Ciara.

Ciara rescued Domestic Shorthair Clover at the start of the first covid lockdown in 2020 and made him a part of their family. Ciara shares, “Clover has adjusted well and fit into our family perfectly. He is a very sweet cat and loves attention. He tolerates the dogs, but he and Baylie are more friendly and often chase each other to play. He loves to chase around small objects like a bottle lid or a plastic ball.” Ciara adds, “Clover is very patient with our children. He is affectionate and loves to cuddle with my husband, to whom he is very attached. Clover enjoys food but can be fussy with wet food if it has been refrigerated.”

The Calvert family were moving back to their home town in Dublin, Ireland to be closer to their family and friends. Ciara says, “Covid was tough to be away from family without being able to visit, so we have opted to move back and be close to family and friends again. Leaving our pets behind was not an option. They have already moved from Northern Ireland to Melbourne, so now they are going back again.”

Organising the pre-travel formalities for three pets can be a daunting process. Hence, Ciara decided to partner with an international pet transport agency to manage the travel arrangements and contacted a few companies before reaching out to Petraveller. Ciara says, “Petraveller was recommended numerous times on expat forums. After an initial email and chat, I felt they were the best option to help move our pets, and I believe Petraveller would provide the best care.”

Thank you, Ciara, for choosing Petraveller for your fur babies’ international relocation. We wish you the best and hope you’re having a wonderful time with family and friends and Baylie, Cupid and Clover in Ireland.
