Chloe and Caitlin

“Petraveller was the best in every aspect and has continued to be wonderful.”

Caitlin travelled with her darling Shepherd Cross, Chloe, from Sydney to Christchurch with Petraveller. She shares details of Chloe's personality and why she partnered with Petraveller for her pet's international journey. 

Chloe became a part of the De Lautour family about seven years ago. Caitlin recalls, “We went to the pound looking for a medium-sized adult dog. Although Chloe was a bit larger than we were looking for, we liked how she looked and behaved. When we found out that she had been there quite a long time and was scheduled to be put down the next day, we immediately decided to bring her home.”

Chloe is very much a people dog. She does not like other dogs much, and especially doesn’t like small dogs and cats. Caitlin says, “Although we tried, we never had much luck with socialising her with other dogs. However, with people, she is great - friendly, playful and very gentle. You can hand feed her, and she never bites or nips you.” She adds, “Chloe is quite protective of us and can get a bit anxious when we are away. But she has handled us all being away and staying at the vet’s without any real problems other than barking and sulking.” 

Chloe is not very fond of squeaky toys and bells, and reacts to these sounds. “She may have been trained to be aggressive towards these sounds before us owning her. Therefore, Chloe has to be walked on a lead and securely fenced always,” says Caitlin.

The De Lautour family were relocating to Christchurch, New Zealand. Caitlin says, “This relocation has been long-planned and was put on hold through 2019, and then COVID stopped it last year. We considered trying to rehome Chloe, but she is difficult to handle, and not liking other dogs doesn’t help. So rehoming options were quite limited.”

Caitlin began searching for a pet relocation agency that would guide her and help her relocate Chloe to Christchurch safely. She contacted several pet transport companies before choosing Petraveller.
