Java has been Mackenzie’s pet since Java was eight weeks old. Mackenzie says, “Java is a very unlucky yet lucky dog; we often say she has nine lives. She has been hit by a car, bitten by a snake, swallowed a fish hook, and recently been attacked by a dog. However, she has luckily pulled through each incident. She turns six this year, and we’re hoping our days of emergency vet trips are over.”

Mackenzie talks about her pet’s vibrant nature. She says, “Java has a ton of energy and is very boisterous, yet she is gentle and amazing with our two young children. She loves everyone; despite what has happened to her, she loves to play with any dog that will give her a chance.” Mackenzie adds, “Over the years, Java has developed separation anxiety and has become scared of thunder and loud noises. She loves her family and wants to be with us wherever we go.”

Mackenzie was returning to her hometown in Halifax, Canada, to be closer to her family. She says, “Leaving Java behind was never an option.”
