Larry and Catherine

Melbourne to London

Trip Overview

Owner: Catherine Spychal

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Larry

Destination: London

Breed: Greyhound

“Larry loves a pawdicure.”

Here is the travel story of a magnificent ex-racing Greyhound, Larry, who has an impressive stature. Get to know more about Larry as he travels from Melbourne to London with Petraveller.

Catherine became a pet parent to Larry when she adopted him through Amazing Greys in the middle of Covid two years ago. Catherine recalls, “When Larry was delivered to us, we were quite amazed at how tall he was; he became buddy to our other dog, who has since departed.”

Describing Larry’s unique qualities, Catherine shares, “Larry loves human interaction and other dogs, especially his other Greyhound mates. He is an ex-racer who suffers from a little separation anxiety. Larry has an awkward gait and finds it almost impossible to sit due to his long legs. He is scared of thunder and gets jumpy with loud noises. Larry loves his food, and his nose is table height, so he has to be told constantly to stay away from the dinner table.”

Despite his occasional anxieties and unique quirks, Larry’s personality shines through. Catherine says with a smile, “Larry is chilled and loving, not overly reactive and low energy. He loves me to give him a pawdicure. We call him lazy Larry because he is laid back and can balance on the edge of the sofa in a deep sleep, fall off and still remain asleep.”

Catherine continues, “Larry is choosy when it comes to being offered treats from strangers but very demanding at mealtime. You’ll rarely hear him bark or growl unless he sees his mates running; that’s the only thing that gets him excited. Larry rarely gets the chance to be off-leash, but if he can, he loves a fast zoom and then to excavate a huge hole in anyone’s garden.”

Catherine was relocating to her hometown in London. She says, “Larry is our family; we rescued him and would never consider giving him up. His few remaining years will be in the UK with lots of warm, waterproof hound clothing.”

Given the importance of safely transporting Larry to his new home, Catherine researched various options. She ultimately chose Petraveller based on her daughter’s successful experience of relocating her cat to Singapore with Petraveller. Catherine mentions, “After checking out the opposition, we went with Petraveller. The website and staff have been very informative to date.”

Larry had a great flight and landed safely in London, ready to take on new adventures with the family. Thank you, Catherine, for choosing Petraveller for dear Larry’s international relocation. Here’s wishing you a wonderful time ahead with darling Larry by your side.
