Murphy and Sarah

Sydney to Dublin

Trip Overview

Owner: Sarah Coffey

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Murphy

Destination: Dublin

Breed: Miniature Dachshund

“Murphy believes he is a Doberman trapped in a Dachshund’s body.”

Here’s the international pet relocation story of Miniature Dachshund Murphy, who loves human company. Read more about charming Murphy and his pet relocation experience from Sydney to Dublin with Petraveller.

Murphy is a two-year-old Dachshund who joined Sarah’s family when he was two months old, just after the covid pandemic began. Sarah says, “Murphy is covid born and raised! He is a loveable rascal who stole our hearts from the get-go.”

Sarah talks about her pet’s vibrant nature. She laughs and says, “Murphy has a big personality. Like his fellow sausages, he believes he is a Doberman trapped in a Dachshund’s body. However, his confidence is all front, and he is a nervous nelly at heart. He loves human company and hates being alone. Whether you’ve gone five minutes or five hours, he will greet you at the door with his tail wagging, giddy with excitement.”

Sarah adds, “Murphy loves lounging and will move from bed to bed in the house, and now that he is a moody teenager, he enjoys lying in. He hates the rain, as being a low rider, he gets a wet undercarriage very easily.”

Sarah was relocating to Dublin to be closer to her family. She says, “We have a one-year-old son and want to try something new. When deciding on our move, we never once considered leaving Murphy behind. It was the first thing I looked into before finalising our decision. Finding a comfortable travel solution for him was my number one priority.”

Sarah decided to use an accredited international pet relocation company to move her pet from Sydney to Dublin. Like most pet parents, Sarah was nervous about Murphy’s journey. During her hunt for a suitable pet travel company, Sarah came across Petraveller and chose to partner with them for Murphy’s move. Sarah says, “We chose Petraveller as they came highly recommended in the Sydney Dachshunds Facebook group. Everyone who used Petraveller had a positive experience. Given the anxiety the majority of the breed suffers, finding a company that could best cater to Murphy’s needs and my own was important. I was nervous for him from the moment he left us until he arrived in Dublin.”

Murphy made it safely to Dublin and is now happily enjoying his new surroundings. Thank you, Sarah, for using Petraveller for Murphy’s big move. We wish you a wonderful time with your family and Murphy in Ireland.
