Nala and Cassie

“Nala is our dream dog.”

Cassie travelled with her beautiful Australian Shepherd, Nala, from Sydney to Christchurch with Petraveller. Cassie talks about her pet’s gentle nature and tells us why she used Petraveller for Nala’s international pet travel to Christchurch. 

Cassie fell in love with the Australian Shepherd breed when she was travelling in the United States of America. Before she returned to Australia, Cassie had already looked at breeders in Australia and found one with a runt who hadn’t been sold. She recollects, “We fell in love with Nala the minute we met her. Despite having numerous health issues when young, which cost us a fortune, we wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Cassie talks about her pet affectionately. She says with a smile, “Nala is our dream dog. She’s very loyal and always remains close by even when she’s off-lead. She often refuses to go on a walk unless the whole family goes along and loves trail running.”

Cassie continues, “Nala a is pet therapy dog accredited for schools and hospitals because she has such a gentle nature and makes everyone who meets her feel special, so, it was a perfect role for her. Nala has an adorable habit of wiggling her butt with happiness. She loves company more than she likes walks.”

Nala still has a few health issues. Cassie explains, “She had major neck surgery when she was one. Nala cannot wear a collar and has to use a harness.”

Cassie was relocating to Christchurch, New Zealand, for work with Nala. She says, “We moved for work, but we're excited to be off to the adventure capital of New Zealand. I am even more excited because it is so dog-friendly both shops and outdoors, and so many runs for her to explore.”
