Christophe and his Jack Russell Terrier Penny had a stress-free pet travel experience from Melbourne to Singapore with Petraveller. Here’s their pet relocation story.

Christophe gave Penny a forever home when he adopted her in April 2018 when she was around two years old. Penny’s previous owner had passed away, and the owner’s sister could not take care of her. She put out an ad on Gumtree, to which Christophe responded and happily took Penny in.

Christophe says, “Based on her temperament and how she acted upon first taking her in, I believe she may have been neglected or abused as a puppy. She was shy and scared for a good four to five months before she finally felt safe and warmed up to me fully. Since then, she’s been a much more confident and a happier dog, and it has filled me with so much happiness to watch her grow.”

Penny is an adorable ball of energy, who loves attention. She’s a very easily excitable dog and loves treats. Christophe says, “Penny does have some not-so-great traits about her, but I’ve learned to train her to be slightly better. She loves to run, and she is overly-friendly to people she likes.” 

Penny has separation anxiety, and can get aggressive if she feels uncomfortable. Christophe shares, “When she meets new people, I always tell them not to get scared or to run away because that only makes her more aggressive. Once she smells you and jumps on you a bit, she will calm down after she’s done sniffing you. She used to be much worse, but her temperament and personality have gotten better over the years. Other than that, she’s generally a very happy dog and is easily entertained.”

Christophe was moving back home to Singapore because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As an adoring pet parent, leaving Penny behind did not cross his mind at all. Christophe began his search for a reliable international pet travel company that would help him relocate his pet safely to Singapore.
