Phoenix, Honey and Sinead

Perth to Singapore

Trip Overview

Owner: Sinead Ho

Origin: Perth

Pet Name: Phoenix and Honey

Destination: Singapore

Breed: Chihuahuas

“Petraveller was quick to respond.”

Sinead and her beloved Chihuahuas, Phoenix and Honey, travelled from Perth to Singapore with Petraveller. Sinead talks about her pets and why she chose Petraveller for their international relocation

Phoenix, a loyal companion to Sinead, was adopted at just eight weeks old. Sinead shares, “Phoenix takes time to warm up to people; sometimes, it can take weeks before she will let another person pet her. She is definitely my girl and follows me everywhere. Phoenix gets nervous in strange environments and can easily slip out of her harness. Once she is spooked, she runs, and she doesn’t come back when called. She has escaped from me several times, which was frightening.” Additionally, Phoenix’s enthusiasm for food comes with a word of caution. Sinead says, “Phoenix loves her food and doesn’t take treats gently, so watch your fingers.”

After experiencing the heartbreaking loss of her Australian Silky Terrier to Cushing’s and her Maltese Poodle to heart failure, Sinead decided it was time to embark on her first overseas holiday in five years. During this period, Sinead entrusted Phoenix’s care to a friend. Sinead shares the distressing experience, “As soon as I left Phoenix, she started searching for me. She was able to squeeze herself through a fence. She disappeared for three days, and after the whole subdivision was searched, she was found by pure chance. Again, Phoenix escaped the second time during that holiday but luckily got caught before she got far.” Determined to keep Phoenix safe and happy, Sinead took steps to prevent further escapes. She decided to get a companion for Phoenix, and hire a pet sitter for future holidays.

Sinead got Honey as an adult dog when she was three years old. Sinead recalls, “Honey was a breeder’s dog and had just had her third litter by Caesarean section. All of her deliveries were C-sections. My vet persuaded the breeder to let her sterilise Honey after she delivered her three puppies. I persuaded the breeder to let me buy Honey after the puppies were weaned.”

As for Honey’s personality, Sinead describes her as a friendly and lucky dog, despite her limited experience of being a pet. Sinead says, “Honey has never really had a chance to be a dog, so she doesn’t know how to play. She loves back scratches, and when she hears puppies on TV, her ears prick up. I think she has never forgotten being a mom. She is a typical Chihuahua, barking at all dogs and showing no fear.”

Initially, Phoenix and Honey ignored each other, but over time they formed a special bond. Sinead shares, “After a long period of ignoring each other, Phoenix and Honey now cuddle together if I’m not around and sleep together when I am away.” Sinead continues, “I have a camera in my living room to keep an eye on them when I’m away, and they both sit on the recliner facing the door waiting for me.”

Sinead was relocating to Singapore to care for her mother. “I would never consider leaving Honey or Phoenix behind,” says Sinead. When it came to choosing a pet relocation service, Sinead decided to choose an agency that would prioritise the safety of her fur babies. Petraveller caught her attention by promptly responding to her queries, instilling confidence with their professionalism and commitment. Sinead recalls her experience: “Petraveller answered my queries very quickly, making me feel confident that they would look after my girls carefully. It made me feel that Petraveller was interested in helping me.”

Phoenix and Honey were well-behaved passengers and made it safely to their new home in Singapore. Thank you, Sinead, for choosing Petraveller to relocate your precious fur babies. We wish you a great life and many exciting adventures with darling Phoenix and Honey.
