Rufus and John

Melbourne to London

Trip Overview

Owner: John Skipper

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Rufus

Destination: London

Breed: Yorkshire Terrier

“Rufus likes being the centre of attention.”

John and his adorable Yorkshire Terrier Rufus had a smooth and a stress-free pet travel experience from Melbourne to London with Petraveller. Here’s their pet relocation story.

John gifted Rufus to his fiancée close to five years ago. John says affectionately, “He is very much part of our family. For a small dog, he is packed full of energy and character. He has the typical terrier traits of playfulness and is extremely stubborn. He loves tennis balls, but once he has a ball, he will not give it up.”

He shares, “Rufus is not generally motivated by food, which makes bribing him challenging. But if another dog is getting a treat, he’ll suddenly become interested whether he likes it or not! He can go on a bit of a hunger strike when in new places.”

Rufus likes to be cuddled but can get snappy if he thinks he’s being held for a different agenda, such as an injection, eye drops etc.

Describing his pet, John says, “Rufus is always smiling and happiest when trotting along on a walk or getting a good scratch. He loves being around people and is good with most dogs. He likes being the centre of attention, he can be feisty and stubborn one minute and soppy and submissive the next.”

Rufus is extremely strong and fit for a little dog and loves to swim, which is strange for a small breed. He’s very friendly and affectionate but will trot off to a quiet corner for a good sleep when he gets tired. John laughs and says, “I’ve made him sound like a bit of a nightmare, which he isn’t! As long as he’s getting a little bit of attention and regular exercise, he’s normally pretty happy. He gets a lot of exercise and attention from us which has spoilt him, I guess.”

After working in Australia for several years, John was returning home to London with Rufus.

He reached out to Petraveller for his pet’s relocation from Melbourne to London based on a recommendation. He says, “Petraveller was recommended to me by a British pet relocation company.”

We are pleased to say that Rufus had an incredible journey from Melbourne to London and is now settling well in his new home. We thank you, John, for trusting Petraveller with your adorable dog’s relocation. We wish you a wonderful life ahead with plenty of adventures with Rufus!
