Tessa and Santhi

Santhi recently travelled with her beautiful Kelpie Cross Tessa from Perth to Singapore. She talks about the strong bond she has with Tessa and explains why she chose Petraveller for the international pet relocation.

Tessa was born in a heavy vehicle parking area in Tuas, Singapore sometime around March or April 2014, to two stray mongrel Singapore Specials. She came from what was assumed to be a litter of almost eleven puppies. Santhi says, “By the time the shelter rescue organisation that my husband and I worked for got to know of her condition, there were only three puppies left from that litter. Tessa, her sister and one brother were the only ones who survived and were brought in to the shelter. They were all eventually adopted.” 

Santhi recalls, “Tessa became officially a part of our family two months after being a foster-failure with us when we took her in at three months of age. Several months later, when I got a place to study in a university in Perth, we crate-trained her and flew her down to Melbourne for quarantine then to Perth to live with us.”

Tessa is a very loving dog. Santhi says affectionately, “She’s an absolute sweetheart and a gem of a pup. She’s always eager to please. Since 2018, she has been my emotional support animal and has supported The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University with several testing specimens such as blood, urine and stool donations.”

Santhi adores Tessa. She says, “Tessa is a little timid initially, but with treats and encouragement she blossoms into a complete and utter love bug. People who meet her in the park where I walk her and my other vet school friends almost always immediately fall in love with her.”

Santhi was going back to Singapore because of the pandemic. She says, “I’m in the process of repatriation due to COVID-19 and Tessa would be joining me.”
