Crunch and Maria

“Crunch is a chill, lazy and dopey dog.”

Crunch became a part of Maria’s life in 2015 when her sister’s dog gave birth to pups. Maria smiles as she recalls, “Crunch could fit into the palm of my hands, and I loved him straight away.”

Maria and Crunch share an incredible bond. She says affectionately, “Crunch has been my support through heartbreaks and tribulations. He’s helped me lose 20 kg, and we’ve both remained fit throughout. He’s made my life so much brighter, and I can’t bear to be without him.”

Maria talks about Crunch’s quirky personality. She says, “Crunch is mainly a chill, lazy and dopey dog. He has arrogant moments where he knows exactly when to come but ignores me! Crunch cracks me up because he’s so vocal and tells me when he’s feeling sad or excited.” Maria laughs and continues, “Crunch has heaps of dog dreams and nightmares and howls the house down. The best is when he hears emergency service sirens and howls, and the rest of the neighbourhood dogs join him!”

Maria relocated to Auckland, New Zealand, to pursue a police career. “I felt a disconnection from New Zealand when I was in Australia and felt it was necessary to help and aid my Maori people. Unfortunately, the Covid lockdown affected the application process and led to lengthy delays. I did not intend to be away from Crunch for this long. I have worked towards us being together in a stable and comfortable home for Crunch. This way, we will never be apart again,” says Maria.
