Dougie and Clodagh

Melbourne to Dublin

Trip Overview

Owner: Clodagh Geelan

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Dougie

Destination: Dublin

Breed: Border Collie x Poodle

Petraveller was a winner for us as it surpassed what similar companies offered.”

Clodagh and her partner relocated from Melbourne to Dublin to be closer to their family and used Petraveller to relocate her cute Border Collie x Poodle Dougie. Clodagh talks fondly about her pet and explains why she used Petraveller for Dougie’s international pet relocation

Dougie became a part of Clodagh’s life one-and-a-half years ago. Clodagh smiles and shares, “I’m a huge dog lover, and after annoying my partner for a considerable length of time, she agreed to welcome a little dog into our family. My partner quickly fell in love with Dougie, and he became the perfect addition to our household. Dougie is half Border Collie and half Poodle, so he is obsessed with the ball and the water.”

Clodagh goes on to share her pet’s exciting personality. She says, “Dougie is a clever little pup and was easy to train. He loves being a good boy, hates being told off, and tends to do all he can to be good. Dougie loves running around the park and swimming at the beach but struggles to switch off. Therefore, never knows when enough is enough until he’s tired. Recently Dougie has grown up a bit and has become a little chill and can put a stop. He now loves nothing more than cuddles first thing in the morning when he’s allowed into the bed and has become cheeky enough to lie his head on the pillow and sleep like his humans under the sheets.”

Dougie is very gentle, loving and full of beans. He loves people and animals too but prefers people more. Clodagh says, “Dougie is a fussy little thing and picky with food. He comes over to us in the evenings while we’re sitting on the couch, pins his ears back, and gives us puppy eyes so he can get picked up and cuddled before bedtime. He even sits on our lap like a teddy bear, and we all love it. However, no dog is perfect, and Dougie is quite afraid of things with wheels and anyone who happens to run near him.”

Clodagh and her partner decided to move back to their homeland in Dublin, Ireland. She says, “Due to Covid lockdowns in Victoria and Australia, we couldn’t go home to visit family, and it became years and years since we were last home. Priorities have been reassessed, and my partner and I decided to move home to be closer to family. Leaving without Dougie has never been an option. We both feel quite guilty about putting a dog through the stress of moving home. The longer we have had Dougie, the more we get to know and love him, and vice versa, so we couldn’t do anything but bring him with us.”

Clodagh began looking for pet travel companies in Australia to help relocate Dougie safely to Dublin. After much research, she reached out to Petraveller to organise Dougie’s move to Ireland. Clodagh says, “I read many reviews about Petraveller, and the reviews spoke highly of the care Petraveller puts into the pet’s relocation. After speaking to Petraveller over the phone, we were reassured to hear what happens and the number of updates we would receive during Dougie’s travel. Petraveller was immediately a winner for us as it surpassed what similar companies offered.”

Dougie had an amazing journey, landed safely in Dublin and is now well settled in his new home. Thank you, Clodagh, for trusting Petraveller with adorable Dougie. We wish you a wonderful time with your family and Dougie out there in Ireland.
