Kudu and Alaina

Sydney to New York

Trip Overview

Owner: Alaina Kiesel

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Kudu

Destination: New York

Breed: Dachshund

“Kudu brought an incredible amount of joy into our lives.”

Introducing Alaina, Joe, and their beloved pet, Kudu. Join them on their relocation journey from Australia to the bustling streets of New York with Petraveller.

Kudu, an adorable Dachshund, entered Alaina and Joe’s life in November 2020, fulfilling their long-held desire to have a dog. Alaina regularly sent Joe adorable videos of sausage dogs, in an attempt to slowly win him over. Alaina recalls, “I would send Joe cute videos every day, and eventually, he fell in love and realised we needed one.”

The early months with Kudu were challenging as he faced health issues, including a severe bout of gastro and surgery for a cherry eye. Alaina says, “We were thrown into the deep end as first-time pet parents. But Kudu was a good boy throughout it all, and it only made him stronger.” Alaina smiles and adds, “Kudu has brought an incredible amount of joy into our lives, and we couldn’t imagine life without him.”

Kudu’s personality is a delightful blend of love, loyalty, and strong-willed determination. Alaina smiles and says, “Kudu is both Mum and Dad’s shadow, depending on who has fed him breakfast that morning. Despite enjoying his bed, he often ends up stretched long between Mum and Dad in the human bed with his head on the pillow and his body under the

blankets.”

Alaina describes Kudu’s expressive nature, “Kudu knows what he wants and when he wants it and isn’t afraid to let you know by shaking his head at you or standing on your chest. He is quite expressive and vocal, often moaning and groaning to tell you he wants something or to let you know he’s enjoying himself. A soft rub of his neck/behind his ears is likely to put him into dreamland.” Alaina adds, “If Kudu hasn’t met you yet, chances are he will bark at you for about four minutes straight to make sure you know he’s tough, and then he’ll curl up like a donut in your lap.”

Alaina and Joe were relocating to New York to be close to Alaina’s family and for a new adventure. Alaina says, “There was no thought of leaving Kudu behind in Australia. We have left him for a few weeks to travel, and I always spend most of my time missing him. Kudu is our baby, we believe he should be a part of this new chapter of our lives. Kudu may have been born in Marulan, NSW, but he has New Yorker energy, and we know he will thrive.”

When it came to selecting a pet relocation service, Alaina and Joe chose Petraveller for Kudu’s travel. Alaina says, “We chose Petraveller initially because they quoted us the lowest price. Petraveller was incredibly professional in their communication and provided a detailed outline of what our quote and service would entail. Having all of this information from the beginning gave us the feeling that this would be the right agency to work with, and we are so confident and happy with our decision. Petraveller has been nothing but helpful, knowledgeable, reassuring, and responsive.” Alaina adds, “It’s a really scary thing to

hand your baby over to strangers for international travel, but the agents at Petraveller work to build trustworthy relationships which make the experience that much less worrisome.”

Kudu’s paws have touched American soil, and he is all ready to embrace new adventures in the land of opportunity. Thank you, Alaina, for trusting Petraveller with precious Kudu. Here’s wishing you good luck on the move and many epic adventures with handsome Kudu by your side.
