“Lucy is the best dog!”

Petraveller transported lovely Labrador Retriever Lucy from Melbourne to Auckland. Lucy’s pet parent Francesca talks about the companionship and comfort that she shares with her pet and tells us why she chose Petraveller for Lucy’s international pet relocation.

Francesca and her boyfriend Matt adopted Lucy in May 2020. Francesca shares, “Lucy was released from the Seeing Eye Dog program because she didn’t have the required temperament and became too distracted. We took this as if Lucy wanted to be a pet and have cuddles all day. We had been on the waitlist for approximately six months and applied to adopt fifteen dogs before Lucy was paired with us!”

Pet mum Francesca talks about Lucy’s unique personality. She says, “Lucy is the best dog. She is easily excitable around new people and in new experiences, and mirrors the energy of those around her. However, Lucy quickly calms down and settles happily next to her humans.”

Francesca laughs and continues, “Lucy is incredibly clever! On Lucy’s first day of living with us, she learned the sound of the jar of peanut butter opening and the compartment of the fridge where the cheese is kept! As Lucy is raised to be around people, she loves nothing more than being close to her people and thrives off a tummy rub or a bottom scratch!”

After living in Melbourne for three years, Francesca and her boyfriend Matt were moving to Auckland, New Zealand, for work and to be closer to their family. “Leaving Lucy in Melbourne was never an option, she is well and truly part of the family. My mum is looking forward to finally meeting her ‘granddaughter’, and my parents have a released guide dog Harry who is very excited to meet Lucy,” says Francesca.

Francesca decided to take help from a reputed pet transportation company to manage Lucy’s move to New Zealand. She says, “We have never travelled with a pet before, so this experience is new to us.” Francesca started looking into pet travel companies to organise Lucy’s safe passage to Auckland.
