Lupin, Dobby and Christian

“Lupin is food motivated, and Dobby is play motivated.”

Christian adopted Lupin and Dobby and made them a part of his family. Christian talks about his pets and tells us what led him to Petraveller for their international pet relocation to Paris. 

Lupin is a two-and-a-half-year-old Kelpie x English Cocker Spaniel. Christian adopted Lupin from a farm when Lupin was four-and-a-half months old. Christian shares, “Lupin was incredibly smart, food motivated, and friendly towards humans and animals. We decided when he was fully trained at nine months old, we would get a brother for him. We thought we were the best dog trainers in the world for how quickly and easily Lupin was trained.”

Christian talks about Lupin’s vibrant personality. He says, “Lupin is an extremely friendly dog. He is food motived and a very fast learner. Our favourite memory of him is letting his brother eat right next to him, sleeping with him, and playing tug of war the first night we brought Dobby home. Lupin is the best dog ever.”

Dobby is a two-year-old Border Collie x Kelpie. Christian adopted Dobby when Dobby was five months old from a family who was unable to care for him. “Dobby was mistreated, anxious and nervous. He wasn’t food motivated, but luckily, he was play motivated. Through too many hours to count, he became just as confident and eager as his older brother,” Christian recalls. 

“Now we finally feel like Dobby can handle any situation and has passed many different situations ranging from hiking, camping and wildlife encounters, to full day city walks,” Christian concludes.

Speaking about Dobby’s personality, Christian says, “Dobby is as loving as he is cautious. He will take as many cuddles and pets as you can give him but will keep his distance from other dogs. Dobby seems to enjoy playing with Lupin even though he spends most of his time at dog parks. Our favourite memory of Dobby is that even though he has been in several stressful situations, he has never snapped or shown a bad bone in his body towards another dog, human, or even chased a wallaby! He is the best cuddler and the nicest dog ever!”

The Poyo family were relocating to Paris. “My wife completed her PhD here and has accepted a long-term position in Montpellier, France,” says Christian.

Organising the pre-travel formalities for two pets is not an easy process. Therefore, Christian decided to get help from professional pet movers. Christian contacted a number of pet relocation companies in Australia before he chose to go ahead with Petraveller. Christian says, “Petraveller took care of our friend’s dogs during their move back to the United Kingdom.”
