Mishy, Rocky, Gizmo and Matthew

“Petraveller was the first company to get back to us about a potential flight.”

Matthew travelled with his three kitties from Sydney to Auckland with Petraveller during the COVID-19 pandemic. He narrates how the cats became a part of his family and what led him to Petraveller for the pet relocation.

Matthew adopted Mishy from a breeder on the Central Coast. A year later, Rocky was adopted, followed by Gizmo, who was brought in by Matthew’s partner. 

Talking about his feline family and their quirks, Matthew says, “Mishy would climb on the balcony and go to another apartment to steal flowers from their tree and leave it on my chest while I was sleeping. I thought I was going mad the first time this happened.” 

Matthew continues, “Rocky, on the other hand, is the super cuddly one and follows his dad around all the time. He has to be a part of whatever is going on, and Gizmo is the first one pushing the others out of the way for food. Cuddles are hard-earned with her.”

After living in Australia for 22 years, Matthew decided to move back home to New Zealand. He says, “My partner is Australian, so this is her first time living in New Zealand and the first time for the three cats.”

Matthew decided to take assistance from an international pet travel agency to help him relocate his feline family. Matthew says, “I was dealing with two other pet relocation companies, but Petraveller was the first company to get back to us about a potential flight. We still haven’t heard from the other companies.”

Mishy, Rocky and Gizmo reached their new home in Auckland in great spirits despite the global pandemic and are happily exploring their new surroundings. We thank you, Matthew, for entrusting us with your dear pets.
