Elphaba and Alex

Brisbane to Edinburgh

Trip Overview

Owner: Alex Fitzgerald-Peltier

Origin: Brisbane

Pet Name: Elphaba

Destination: Edinburgh

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

“Elphaba is an extremely inquisitive and independent girl.”

Alex and her adorable cat Elphaba travelled from Brisbane to her hometown in Edinburgh with Petraveller. Alex shares a remarkable story of her beloved cat, Elphaba and explains why she chose Petraveller for her international pet travel to Scotland.

Elphaba, affectionately known as Elfie, has been a part of Alex’s life since she adopted her from a pet shop in a shopping centre. Recalling the day she met Elphaba, Alex reminisces, “I remember seeing Elphaba and all her siblings, and the shop assistant offered me to meet one of the kittens. Elphaba was the first to jump out, so I decided to take her home! I called my mother to tell her about this adorable kitten. The second time the shop assistant opened the glass door, Elphaba was the first of her siblings to jump out again - I knew she was the one for me.”

Elphaba is an extremely inquisitive and independent girl. Alex describes her pet cat; she says, “Elphaba does not adore affection unless on her terms. She enjoys existing in my company and often prefers a nearby seat rather than my lap. However, she does enjoy night time and morning head scratches.”

Alex describes Elfie’s talkative side: “Elphaba is a vocal cat and loves to chat, especially when it’s nearing her feed time. When it comes to mealtime, she devours her food quickly; she’s not a grazer.”

Alex shares some endearing anecdotes about Elfie and her beloved fish. She laughs and says, “Elphaba has a pet fish - a toy fish at the end of a string attached to a plastic stick. She takes her fish on walks around our home. If I am in the living room watching the TV, she’ll often jump up behind the couch with her fish, occasionally hitting my head with the stick on her way up. At night, she searches for her fish to bring to bed, and she’s not exactly quiet about it. During storms, she seeks refuge in the cupboard with her fish until it’s safe to come out. I have even noticed her fish enjoying a nap with Elphaba in the Petraveller crate!”

After residing in Australia for six years, Alex decided it was time for her to return to her hometown in Edinburgh for good. Leaving her beloved furry companion behind was obviously unimaginable for Alex.

Alex decided to hire a reliable and caring pet transport service to ensure Elphaba’s safe journey to her new home. After extensive research, Alex discovered Petraveller and was impressed by their exceptional communication and dedication to their clients and their pets.

Expressing her reasons for choosing Petraveller, Alex says, “I had done extensive research on different organisations, and Petraveller had the best communication efforts with me from the start, along with a very supportive, patient and caring team behind them. Seeing the social media posts of recent client experiences and seeing employees interact with the animals provided me with the confidence that I could trust them with Elfie’s well-being.”

Elphaba had a smooth journey and landed safely in the beautiful land of Scotland. Elphaba is now happily reunited with her beloved fish. Thank you, Alex, for choosing Petraveller for dearest Elphaba’s international relocation. We wish you lots of happiness, fun and laughter with darling Elphaba by your side.
