Missy and Louise

Melbourne to Auckland

Trip Overview

Owner: Louise Poultney

Origin: Melbourne

Pet Name: Missy

Destination: Auckland

Breed: German Shepherd

“Missy is very friendly and loves everyone.”

The Poultney family dearly missed their family and friends during the COVID-19 pandemic and moved back to their hometown with their family dog, Missy. Pet mum Louise talks about Missy’s friendly nature and what led her to Petraveller for Missy’s international pet relocation to Auckland.

Missy is a three-year-old German Shepherd. Louise shares, “Missy is rarely left alone, on her own at home. She gets lots of exercise daily, morning with my husband Trevor and afternoon with me. She is very friendly and loves everyone, all dogs and people. But if either one is on a skateboard, then it is all on.”

Missy is a well-trained dog and has been to the GS club training for two years. Louise smiles and says, “Missy is very affectionate and loves to lick your face. She is always the first to run up to people and dogs to say hello in the park. Missy loves drinking water and playing with it.” Patricia adds, “Missy has not mastered the art of fetching the ball – all balls are hers. She runs after the balls, collects them in her mouth but is unhappy about giving them back. She loves to run with other dogs and likes to head people into wee groups in the park.”

Louise says fondly, “Missy is full of fun and is very clever. She lets herself outdoors and has no trouble opening the doors. She is happy to sleep anywhere, mainly on the floor, and doesn’t sleep with us as it’s too hot for her.”

After living in Melbourne for twenty-one years, the Poultney family were moving back home to Auckland, New Zealand, to be with their near and dear ones. “We have missed our family and friends a lot lately over the COVID-19 pandemic. We feel it is time to go home and retire somewhere near a beach so Missy can run and play in the water for the rest of her life,” says Louise.

Louise wanted Missy to have a comfortable and stress-free travel experience during her relocation to Auckland. Therefore, she decided to seek assistance from international pet transport specialists to manage Missy’s travel. Louise reached out to Petraveller based on a recommendation. She says, “Petraveller was recommended by the kennels we use.”

Missy had a fantastic journey and made it to Auckland in great spirits. Thank you, Louise, for trusting Petraveller with sweet Missy. We hope you’re having a wonderful time with your family, friends and Missy in New Zealand.
