“Petraveller was the only company that offered photo and travel updates of the journey.”
Relocating pets during the COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge, especially when dealing with pets that are fearful by nature. Here’s the story of Japanese Spitz Rune who travelled from Sydney to Christchurch with Petraveller.
Rune became a part of Kate’s life just over a year ago after she moved to Australia. Kate says, “I always had dogs growing up, and I found I couldn’t live happily without one.”
Rune is a very timid girl. Kate shares, “She’s afraid of sudden movements and loud noises, even from things she already knows. Funnily enough, she is completely unafraid of thunder. She likes to growl at strange noises, or nothing at all, as though she is guarding the house. But as soon as anything happens, she turns tail and runs.”
Kate adds, “I am still trying to train this behaviour out of her with limited success. I am almost certain flying will be a fairly terrifying experience for her, but I hope she bounces back well.”
Rune is a foodie at heart. Kate explains, “Rune loves her food so much that we had to get her a slow feeder bowl. If she is stressed or freaked out, a piece of food is the way to her heart.”
Leaving Rune’s fearful nature aside, she loves the people she knows. She likes to play and get rough with familiar faces and is a real cuddle bug given the opportunity. Kate says fondly, “She is the only dog I have ever had who likes to shove her head against you, as though giving a doggie hug either while receiving pats or seeking them out.”
Kate was moving to Christchurch, New Zealand, with beloved Rune. Kate decided to make the international relocation easier on her and Rune by using a pet relocation company. Kate says, “I contacted pretty much every agency and communicated with them for a while after receiving a quote. Most came back with wrong dates, incomplete information, or other errors that made me mistrustful of their competency in taking care of Rune. Petraveller was the only agency where this did not occur, and also the only company I encountered that offered photo and travel updates of the journey. These things combined made the choice easy.”
We are glad to say that Rune was a happy traveller and reached her destination in great spirits. Thank you, Kate, for giving us the opportunity to relocate your precious girl Rune. We wish you a happy and a wonderful life ahead with Rune back home in New Zealand.
