Scruffy and David

“Scruffy is a huge part of my life, and the love I have for him is very powerful.”

David and his cute little Shih Tzu, Scruffy, travelled back home from Cairns to Auckland with Petraveller. David talks about their special bond and explains why he chose Petraveller for the international pet transport.

Scruffy was a rescue dog when David adopted him and gave him a forever home. He says, “I got Scruffy when he was two years old, and I bonded with him straight away. I got him not long after my other dog Kaos passed after nearly seventeen years. Sadly, I had to put Kaos down due to cancer and old age.” 

David describes his pup as a very loving little dog who loves to be close to him. David laughs and says, “Scruffy’s got funny little antics, especially when I get home from work. He loves car trips and always wants to go everywhere with me. Scruff is a very happy, cute little guy.” 

David adores everything about Scruffy. He says affectionately, “Scruffy is a huge part of my life, and the love I have for him is very powerful.” Talking about Scruffy’s personality, David shares, “Scruffy has separation anxiety due to him being mistreated before I got him which was sad to know. He gets scared very easily even now, and I feel this is due to his past before me. Loud noises, especially thunder, really scares him.”

David was returning home to Auckland, New Zealand. He says, “I have decided it’s time to return home to New Zealand as my parents are living back there. I would like to be there for them to help them out in general as they age. They recently lost their dog of seventeen years, so Scruffy would have a loving place to visit too.”

Like most pet parents, David was concerned about his pet’s travel as Scruffy is afraid of loud noises.
