Anika and her beloved pet Skadi have shared a special bond ever since Skadi was just a tiny eight-week-old puppy. Anika says, “Skadi likes to play rough and is very independent. She gets on well with most other dogs and is okay with cats.”

Anika describes Skadi as talkative, particularly when she hears sirens. “Skadi is not fond of her toenails being clipped or vets poking at her hips and will growl if unhappy. However, she is very food motivated, and chicken fixes all!” says Anika.

Skadi’s personality is marked by her multiple escapades, as Anika fondly shares, “Skadi was an escape artist in her day. She wouldn’t jump fences but just push them over or dig under them. She even broke a window once to get inside the house.”

Anika was relocating to Auckland with her furry companion. Leaving Skadi behind was unthinkable for Anika. She exclaims, “No, leaving Skadi behind was never an option. I would smuggle Skadi in my handbag if I had to.”
