Skippy and Amanda

“Skippy is a sweetheart and a great friend.”

Adorable Jack Russell Terrier Skippy travelled across the world from Sydney to Rome with Petraveller. Pet mum Amanda talks about her pet and explains why she partnered with Petraveller for Skippy’s international pet relocation to Italy. 

Amanda welcomed Skippy into her life in April 2021 and made her a part of her family. Amanda says, “I have to admit that it was the best decision we ever made. There’s never a dull moment at home since Skippy became part of our family.”

Skippy is a beautiful Jack Russell Terrier with a broken coat. She is very clever, food driven, and a sucker for cuddles. Amanda says, “At ten weeks, Skippy mastered the basic commands such as sit, lay down and stay. Then we taught her the fun ones such as roll over, play dead, and do the kangaroo. Skippy does anything for a treat. We like to offer her dry meat/fish as training treats and chewable food sticks when we chill on the couch.”

Amanda continues, “Since Skippy was little, she’s been used to sleeping in her travel crate. We used to carry her around in a backpack in public places, as we always knew that she would follow us in our travels no matter what.”

Skippy is a very lively and intelligent dog and a cuddle lover. Amanda says fondly, “Skippy’s favourite thing to do is sit on your lap but being a Jack Russell requires lots of zoomies in the apartment and if you have a laser pointer, get ready for some real action! Skippy is well socialized with humans and dogs of all sizes and is pretty chill with cats. But don’t let her see a bird or a lizard because she can turn into a fierce hunter.”

Amanda adds, “Skippy is not very vocal. The only time she barks is when somebody rings the doorbell. This little furry girl is many things, but she is a real sweetheart and a great friend.”

After living in Australia for six years, Amanda and her partner were moving to Rome. She says, “My partner and I are both from Italy and although we are Australian citizens, going back was always in the cards. After the pandemic, we felt far apart from our families, especially because travelling was impossible. For this reason, we have decided

to go back now that everything is getting better and reconnect with our loved ones. Leaving Skippy behind was not an option. She is family!”

Amanda decided to engage the services of an international pet transport agency to help with her pet’s relocation to Rome. She contacted multiple pet travel agencies before she decided on Petraveller.
