Tilly and Helen

“Tilly is a little star.”

Helen and her beloved Poodle Tilly had an incredible journey from Adelaide to Auckland with Petraveller. Let’s read more about Tilly and her relocation experience with Petraveller.

Tilly came into Helen’s life through a work colleague. Helen smiles and shares, “We hadn’t had a dog for several years, and at our age, it was now or never. Tilly is a little star; she only likes myself, my husband and my daughter, but will go to other people only if we aren’t around.”

Tilly’s timid nature often makes her cautious in new environments. Helen explains, “Tilly is quite timid in new places, so you might see her a bit worried about this big move. But lots of affection and reassuring will help, along with treats.”

Reflecting on Tilly’s personality, Helen shares a memorable incident, “When Tilly was very young, she was on a walk and got spooked by another dog and some bikers. She set off running away from them, and I could not catch her.” Despite her fear of strangers, Tilly surprised everyone with her resourcefulness. Helen says, “Even though Tilly isn’t comfortable around people she doesn’t know, she sought out some builders nearby.” Helen chuckles and adds, “The builders put Tilly’s photo on Facebook at the same time we did, just in case anyone had found her. She looked so funny when we arrived to pick her up with these big burly builders looking after her.”

Helen was relocating to Auckland. She says, “We miss New Zealand and have family there.” Leaving Tilly behind was unimaginable for Helen.
