Tink, Sherlock and Ward

Brisbane to Amsterdam

Trip Overview

Owner: Ward Van Damme

Origin: Brisbane

Pet Name: Tink and Sherlock

Destination: Amsterdam

Breed: Domestic Shorthair cats

“Tink is calm and Sherlock is a funny character.”

Here’s the international relocation story of Domestic Shorthair cats, Tink and Sherlock, who are like chalk and cheese. Read about Tink and Sherlock as they travel from Brisbane to Amsterdam with Petraveller.

Ward brought Tink home from a kitten rescue centre when Tink was six weeks old. Ward recollects, “We chose Tink because when one of us picked him up, he immediately fell asleep in our arms.”

Ward talks about Tink’s calm personality. He says, “Tink is very people-oriented, and a very calm cat. If we have not seen him for a while, he immediately knows who we are and starts talking. He wants to sit on your lap as much as possible. Tink is very chill and loves to lie down outside in the sun. We took Tink with us to New Zealand eight years ago. He currently lives with our daughter.”

Ward adopted a six-week-old rescue cat and named him Sherlock. Ward laughs as he recalls, “Sherlock looked like a very shy little boy, but it turns out we should have called him Garfield. He’s a very different cat compared to Tink, not very elegant, but extremely cute.”

Speaking of Sherlock’s quirky nature, Ward says, “Sherlock is an indoor cat and loves to be near Tink. He does not like to be picked up and will not sit on our lap but will sit against our legs on the sofa.” Ward chuckles and continues, “Sherlock is a funny character and does unexpected things. He loves his food, which is hard as Tink likes to take his time and come back later. Sherlock is not good with strangers and hides immediately when he sees someone he does not know. It takes many visits for Sherlock to warm up to someone new, and he prefers men to women. Sherlock is easily scared and always turns to Tink for comfort when he is scared.”

Ward was moving to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to be closer to his mum. He says, “I’am relocating to be with my mum, who’s almost 95. Life is a bit lonely at the moment due to the Covid-19 rules.” Leaving Tink and Sherlock behind was never an option for Ward.

Ward began looking for a trusted and efficient pet transport agency to relocate his cats safely to Amsterdam. Before reaching out to Petraveller, Ward contacted another pet transport agency and requested for a quote. However, when they did not respond to his request, Ward reached out to Petraveller to manage Tink and Sherlock’s international travel from Brisbane to Amsterdam.

Tink and Sherlock were well-behaved passengers and made their long journey to Amsterdam without a worry. Thank you, Ward, for using Petraveller to relocate your beautiful cats. We wish you a wonderful time with your mum, Tink and Sherlock in the Netherlands.
