Tortie and Patrick

Launceston to Amsterdam

Trip Overview

Owner: Patrick Geale

Origin: Launceston

Pet Name: Tortie

Destination: Amsterdam

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

“Petraveller was there every step of the way and were easy and approachable to deal with.”

Petraveller helped pet parent Patrick relocate his beautiful Domestic Shorthair Tortie from Launceston to Amsterdam. Patrick talks about his cat Tortie and explains why he chose Petraveller for her international pet relocation to the Netherlands.

Patrick became a pet dad to a beautiful Domestic Shorthair Tortie in 2009. Patrick recalls, “My black cat named Black Kitten had a litter of kittens, and Tortie was one of them. I decided to keep her as she was the only colourful one out of the litter, and the rest were all one colour.”

Tortie has a lot of personality. Patrick smiles and says, “Tortie has a bit of ‘tortitude’ and can be naughty sometimes. She is shy with people she doesn’t know but loves her human mum and dad. Tortie is very vocal sometimes. When it’s feeding time, I reel off the different flavours of cat food, and she gets whichever flavour she meows the most for. Tortie loves to sleep and loves to find any warm spots to lie. She likes to be on top of or in things like boxes or bags.”

Pet dad Patrick recalls a memorable incident, “I went on a holiday to the Netherlands in 2018, and my good friend was looking after Tortie. She fell sick at the time, so my friend struck a deal with her that if she was a good cat and behaved herself and wasn’t difficult when she had to take medication, he would light the wood heater every night for her to lay in front of and enjoy the warmth. Tortie recovered back to full health on my return home.”

Patrick was relocating to Amsterdam to be with his fiancé and to start a new life. “Leaving Tortie behind was never an option as she is as close to a child that I’ve got, she is my fur baby,” says Patrick.

Patrick decided to take help from a team of international pet transport specialists to manage Tortie’s transport as he wanted his pet to have a comfortable pet travel experience. Patrick reached out to a pet travel agency before choosing Petraveller. He says, “I did initially have a quote with another company, but they were too vague with their quote and didn’t explain things as well.”

After thorough research, Patrick contacted Petraveller to help with Tortie’s relocation from Launceston to Amsterdam. Patrick says, “I chose Petraveller as they were thorough and professional. Petraveller explained everything in great detail and was there every step of the way. Also, they were easy and approachable to deal with.”

Tortie had a relaxed journey and made it to Amsterdam in great spirits. Thank you, Patrick, for using Petraveller to relocate your dear pet. We wish you good luck with the new beginnings and hope you make some beautiful memories with Tortie out there in the Netherlands.
