Dusty and Ashley

Sydney to Auckland

Trip Overview

Owner: Ashley Cockayne

Origin: Sydney

Pet Name: Dusty

Destination: Auckland

Breed: Schnauzer

“Dusty gets very vocal and excited when he sees his favourite people.”

Ashley and her family dog Dusty moved back home from Sydney to Auckland. She talks about her dog’s temperament and why she hired Petraveller for Dusty’s international pet relocation.

The Cockayne family brought Dusty home when he was only a tiny puppy in Auckland. Since then, he has been a huge part of the family. Dusty is now nine years old and has a nurturing family, free rein of the house, sleeps a lot on his favourite piece of furniture but will bark to alert the family if anyone comes.

Ashley reveals her pet’s personality. She says, “Dusty does not like being alone for long and enjoys company, pats and walks in the park. He is very aware of his surroundings and can get very vocal and excited when he sees his favourite people, but settles down after a few minutes and becomes his usual sleepy self.”

She continues, “We sometimes need to encourage Dusty to go to the toilet by using the command go toilet; otherwise, he tends to hold on. Dusty can get anxious in new environments or around loud unfamiliar noises, so we embrace him and reassure him during these times. He is very sensitive to people’s mood and health. He will nuzzle into anyone who is unwell. He also knows when the baby is awake or unwell and will come and let me know.”

The Cockayne family was returning home to Auckland, New Zealand, to be with their family. Dusty was travelling with them as the family couldn’t imagine relocating without their fur baby.

Ashley decided to hand over the entire relocation process to a reputed pet transport company that would look after Dusty like their own. Ashley had used another company on the way over to Sydney from Auckland. However, she says, “We were unhappy with the lack of care, as we found Dusty left alone in a warehouse with the cage still cabled shut.” Therefore, the safety and comfort of her pet was Ashley’s biggest priority this time around. She got in touch with Petraveller to handle her pet’s move.

Ashley’s adorable dog Dusty had a seamless flight and is now busy exploring the outdoors of Auckland. Thank you, Ashley, for reaching out to Petraveller to help you relocate charming Dusty. We wish the Cockayne family the best and many fun adventures with Dusty in New Zealand!
